My name is Wendy Isham and I'm a mom of three awesome, soon to be out of the nest kids. I'm also a retired art teacher, thanks to my wonderful, entrepreneur husband. While raising my kids, I put my art skills on hold, but now since we're almost empty nesters, I've gotten back to my creative side and I'm loving it. My side of the garage has been turned into my workshop with no hope of my car seeing it again and there just aren't enough hours in the day to paint and build to my heart's content. Art is the gift and passion God has given me and I would like to share it with others.
Style & Quality
My favorite style is comfortable farmhouse. I love its simple, laid back elegance. I love the stories an old favorite family rocking chair could tell from its chipped paint and worn arm rests. Though my pieces seem new, they come from old worn out wood that I'm sure would have a story to tell. I select just the right pieces of wood for each project. It's the wood that tells me what color or stain would look best, to bring out its beauty. I build my pieces to last and hopefully they will have some stories of their own.
100% Handmade by Me
All of my pieces are handmade by me. It's a time consuming process that on most days I get lost in for hours. I use pallet wood for most of my work, but I sometimes come across old drawers, cabinet doors, and chair rails to add to my pieces. For this reason, each of my pieces are one of a kind. In addition, the wood has many irregularities and character, which I just love. It's very satisfying to repurpose something that was headed for the burn pile. I think each piece is a beautiful addition to any home.
